Cursor connects to Wirebox as a remote MCP server, so no local process is required.

Connect

  1. Create an API key in the Console — or reuse an identity-scoped key if Cursor should only act as one agent.
  2. Add the server in either place:
    • Project — create .cursor/mcp.json in the repository
    • Global — edit ~/.cursor/mcp.json
    • UI — open Cursor Settings → MCP and add a server, pasting the same values
  3. If your Cursor build cannot send custom headers, append the key to the URL instead:
  4. Cursor detects the change automatically; if the server does not appear, restart Cursor.

Verify

Ask Cursor to call wirebox_whoami. It returns the handle, mailbox address, and iMessage status of the identity the connection acts as.

What Cursor can do

  • List, search, read, send, reply to, and delete email in the agent’s mailbox
  • List and read iMessage conversations, and send iMessages
  • Check which identity the connection acts as
Actions follow the identity’s mail rules and policy, and the connection only acts when Cursor invokes a tool — it does not watch the inbox in the background.
